Colin Winnette is a writer from Denton, Texas.
His forthcoming books include Wonderkin (Putnam 2027) and Dazed and Confused (Bloomsbury 2026). His last novel Users (Soft Skull 2023) was a Finalist for the 2024 Pen/Faulkner Award for Fiction, a New York Times "Editor's Choice”, one of the New Yorker's "Best Books of 2023”, and was called “The First Great Novel About Virtual Reality” by The Nation.
Winnette’s other novels include The Job of the Wasp (long-listed for the Believer Book Award and an American Bookseller Association’s Indie Next Pick), Haints Stay (one of “15 Westerns that Revitalized the Genre” -InsideHook), Coyote (an indie-bestseller and winner of Les Press’s NOS Book Contest), and Revelation (“A forceful book… about the absolute peril of desire.” -Ben Marcus). His novels have been translated into several languages.
He was Runner Up for the CSU Poetry Center's First Book Award, and his stories were shortlisted for the Donald Barthelme Prize for Short Fiction. His writing has appeared in numerous publications, including Playboy, McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern, AGNI, BOMB Magazine, and more.
